Nelson Golf Golfing Nelson Gold Nelson New Zealand

18th May 2012

The Fairways were sliced on Monday as part of the fairway management program. The Tees were also sprayed for insects.

The 13th bunker was also completed and all bunkers were shaped so as they have more of a slope around their edges. This should result in less balls laying hard up against the faces.

The Clubhouse driveway was pruned around the pedestrian accessway. This is to improve visibility of pedestrians around the playground area.

Work continues on the entranceway gardens. They will soon be planted with the same plants as what was planted inside the gateway a few years ago.

11th May 2012

The first of this years revetted bunkers came into play on the 4th hole today. Construction of the bunker to the left of the 13th green is also near completion and the aim is to be regularly completing the remaining bunkers for the rest of winter.

The 18th will become a temporary par 3 in the coming weeks. This will be determined by how well the turf establishes on this tee and also how far we progress down the 18th fairway with the lifting of cooch grass.

The greens have been needle tine vertidrained this week, the fairways sprayed witn insecticide and last week the fairways were also sliced.

The practice bunker has been refilled with sand. A combination of wind and high use had seen this bunker loose a large amount of sand.

27th April 2012

This week has seen the resumption of the Course Plan Reconstruction. On Monday we Turfed the Temporary 18th Tee. We will begin to take turf from the 18th fairway next week and as soon as the temporary Tee is in suitable playing condition, we will make the 18th hole a temporary Par 3.

On Tuesday the 15th fairway was rotary hoed and sown with a fescuebrowntop seed mix. The last remaining old style bunker on the 4th was excavated and will be revetted next week.

The greens have had both a fungicide and insecticide applied this week.

Today we received 40mm of rain in an hour. This has resulted in some of the bunkers filling with sand and a large amount of surface water. This is draining well and the course should be in good condition for the weekend
